In the remote landscapes of Mtito Andei, Makueni County, life demands an extraordinary level of resilience. It is a place of thick shrubs, dry bushes, and endless, dusty paths connecting humble homesteads. When the wind sweeps across the terrain, clouds of red dust rise to cover everything in sight. Growing up here, daily life was a harsh struggle, but for vulnerable children, the challenges were amplified. It was against this unforgiving backdrop that my journey began.
I was raised in a humble home by a remarkable single mother. She was a hardworking enterprising small-scale business woman, pouring every ounce of her energy into providing for her three children. Though our resources were scarce, her sharp work ethic and boundless love anchored our family. She tirelessly stretched every small coin to secure a better future for us.
Then, in the year 2000, our world shattered. My beloved mother passed away.
The Turning Point
Losing her at a young age plunged my life into immediate darkness. The ultimate source of our security, financial support, and warmth was suddenly gone. I was left exposed, deeply confused, and terrified of what tomorrow would bring.
Yet, even in the depths of abandonment, God was present.
After I completed primary school, a miracle happened. God placed a guardian angel in my path—a person who looked at a vulnerable orphan and chose to invest in my future. This benefactor held my hand, stepped into the role of a parent, and sponsored my high school education. They believed in my potential and stood by me faithfully until I graduated with my university degree.
This is a privilege most orphans never receive. Everyday, I see brilliant children whose educational journeys end abruptly at primary school simply for lack of school fees, a uniform, or books. I have watched immense potential get buried beneath the crushing weight of poverty. My life took a completely different path because one investor decided to become my anchor of hope.
The Birth of Thayu
Years later, as I sat in quiet reflection, the weight of my journey hit me. Tears filled my eyes as I asked myself the hard questions: Where would I be today if that one person hadn't intervened? Would I have ever stepped into a high school classroom? Would I hold a degree?
If one person could rewrite my entire destiny, then I must be that one person for another child.
That profound realization gave birth to the Thayu Life Foundation.
In my native language, Thayu means Peace. I chose this name because I want every vulnerable child we reach to experience true peace of mind and heart—the comforting peace of knowing that they are not forgotten, and that someone genuinely cares about their future.

The mission of the Thayu Life Foundation is focused and powerful: to seek out orphaned, needy, and vulnerable children, hold their hands, and anchor them through quality education. Education gave me a second chance at life. Now, it is my life's mission to extend that same second chance to as many children as possible.
